Jade is a mischievous, outspoken baby dragoness. She has a wicked sense of humor and sometimes laughs at the expense of others, yet she proves to be good friend and a great listener. Though she often seems indifferent to the problems of others, she legitimately cares about her friends and comes through for them when she needs to. They do need to be her friends first, or she is truly disinterested.

Jade is very independent, level-headed and resourceful, mostly due to her having spent a lot of time fending for herself in the forest. Both her upbringing and her struggles to survive have made her very aware of her dragon nature. She has completely embraced it, but sometimes lets her pride get the best of her because of it.

Jade is a tad more sensitive than she lets on and she is covertly enthusiastic about pony items and customs. Although she has a genuine interest in the pony culture, she does not appreciate how dragons are dismissed as savages.

As time progresses Jade develops feelings for Spike. She is conscious of his crush on Rarity and likes their friendship as it is, so she keeps these feelings hidden to ensure that she and Spike stay on good terms.
